Maxine works in a variety of media. As a painter she works in Oil, Watercolor, and Mixed Media (from fabric and sand to collage and encaustic).  Maxine also enjoys print maker creating Etchings, Aquatints, Collagraphs, and Monotype printing. She has created some sculpture and her doll making and jewelry making are in demand. Maxine is also a professional photographer and the owner of Maxine’s Classic Photography/ Creations.   She is presently a photography/Art teacher in the N.Y.C. Dept. of Education.

She studied Advertising Design and Photography at New York City Technical College and etching under Otto Neils at the Bob Blackburn’s Printmakers Workshop in N. Y. C.              

                       Ms. Townsend-Broderick has been a member of the Professional Photographers of Greater New York, the Professional Photographers’ Society of the State of N.Y., and the American Photographic Artisans Guild.  She is a member of  the Alliance of Queens Artists (board member), the Long Island Black Artist Association (past president), and the United Federation of Teachers.

                        Her paintings decorate the walls of NAKISAKI International Restaurant in Hempstead, N.Y., CEMOTAP in South Ozone Park,  N. Y., and African American Museum of Nassau County, Hempstead, N. Y.   Maxine has exhibited her work in New York's  LaGuardia Airport, the African-American Museum of Nassau County, the Queens Museum, the Fine Arts Museum of Long Island (FAMLI), the Chelsea Center, Muttontown, N.Y., the Langston Hughes Community Library and Cultural Center in Corona, N.Y., the Great Neck Library, the Westbury Public Library, the Rosa Parks Campus of the College of New Rochelle, Nassau Community College’s Firehouse Gallery, the Art Council of the Electrical Industry, Lever House, Hofstra University, Tanglewood Preserve Outdoor Art Show, Queenborough Community College, Harlem State Office Building, Castillo Center, Harlem Institute, College of New Rochelle, Hempstead Public Library, Freeport Memorial Library, Atlantic City Library, Elmont Public Library, the Plandome Gallery, Queensborough Public Library, Locust Valley Library Gallery, Chase Manhattan Bank, Alliance of Queens Artist Gallery, the Association of Caribbean-American Artists Gallery,  St. Albans Library, Cambria Heights Library, Jacob K.
